Over 500 REEFbuds have been deployed to start a new MPA. These initial REEFbuds have become fertile substrates to plant juvenile coral from nurseries, akin to planting seedlings on more fertile ground on the surface.

 

     Coral propagation in Camiguin takes on 2 forms, the natural enrollment of corals during spawning season and the transplanting of branches from nurseries. Both activities have been proven successful.
